In the Spring of 1987 several Idaho National Laboratory project managers realized the importance of sharing information related to challenging aspects of past and present projects and recommended establishing a formal and reoccurring network of project managers which ultimately resulted in the formation of the PMI Chapter serving the Eastern Idaho Region.

To be recognized by the Eastern Idaho business community, the chartering group created the governing documents in accordance with the PMI National organization requirements. A senior management board was formed comprised of several senior business principals in the area along with senior managers of the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. It was this board that served as the steering committee responsible for taking the first steps in growing the Chapter that now serves Eastern Idaho.

Over the years, the Chapter has grown to include members from the Idaho National Laboratory’s multiple contractors, the business communities of Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and the surrounding region and four Idaho Universities. These members all have a common goal of achieving successful outcomes for their projects which across the Chapter are many and diverse projects.
